Follow our health intervention - balance training
Follow us - strengthen mental performance together!
Many people want to maintain their mental fitness and prevent cognitive decline.
To achieve this, we are conducting a new study with several innovative approaches: We are investigating how various interventions have a positive impact on cognitive performance – and cordially invite you to follow our scientific journey.
Today: Balance Training - Exercise for Body and Mind
Balance training is often associated with fall prevention or physical stability – but its importance extends far beyond that. Neuroscientific studies show that training the sense of balance promotes not only motor but also cognitive processes. The reason lies in the close connection between vestibular systems (which control balance) and central nervous system structures, especially the cerebellum, the prefrontal cortex, and the hippocampus – regions that are crucial for attention, memory, and executive functions.
Balance exercises continuously activate and rewire these networks. This promotes neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt structurally and functionally. Studies have shown that regular balance training improves cognitive flexibility, working memory, and attentional performance. Furthermore, it contributes to stress regulation, as coordinative movements require a high degree of mindfulness and body awareness.
Thus, balance training is far more than just physical exercise—it's a holistic workout for the brain and mind that helps maintain cognitive resources and promote mental performance well into old age.
Stay active!
We conduct research in an area that is important to all of us: the maintenance and promotion of mental health. At the same time, we want to inspire you to pursue a physically, mentally, and socially active lifestyle. Look forward to further postings from our intervention study!
